About this resource

As I understand it the cash allowance for an asylum seeker (after they've been granted refugee status) is about £37 a week and basic one room accommodation. Many of the refugees are highly trained, intelligent and well qualified but until they are granted 'permission to work' they can't get jobs. This commonly takes several years so they are left with nothing to do but stare at the walls.
