Slave Drivers
About this resource
This song would be a good way of bringing the slave trade up to date. The line, “cruelty and hunger, shackles whips and chains, alcohol and drugs, fear and lies” shows that modern day trafficking is not so different from the Transatlantic Slave Trade. The graphics also slip between slavery then and now, creating powerful images. It could also be used in conjunction with Strange Cargo and Restless Sea.
